Depo Provera, is this a good method?

I currently use "the patch" Ortho Evra, and like it, but I am considering a switch, will I experience negative side effects? ie..gain a lot of weight, hair growth or loss, or even skin problems? are these things common?

Depo Provera, is this a good method?
I try to persuade women and girls not to use the depo shot b/c of how badly it affected me and many other women. It's almost a slow-acting poison, there's so many side effects. Your doctor won't be completely honest w/ you about the side effects because mine wasn't. Many women gain A LOT of weight in a short period of time, hair loss, loss of sex drive, muscle aches, headaches, and sometimes even depression. If your happy where you are than stick with it..you won't regret it like I do!
Reply:if you mention depo-provera is because some friend talk to you about it. just tell your doctor about your side effects and ask him if he has another alternative for the previous one. he is the only one who knows you.
Reply:I used Depo Provera in the past and had good luck with it and very little side effects. It was nice getting a shot that lasted for 3 months. Have you ever thought about the norplant, it last for 5 years? It depends on your age and if you have kids or not as to if you would be interested or not.
