Neck piercing?

I want to get my neck pierced but I heard that the piercings don't stay in long because off the fast growth of skin cells. Does anyone know if thats true or not .

Neck piercing?
gross!
Reply:GOSH UR SO SICK!
Reply:Go ask a piercing person.
Reply:what about cut it out.
Reply:it would look gross and be painful anyway. dont.
Reply:ok.... sure... WOW! ive never herd of a neck piercing!!!
Reply:Its called a nape piercing, its a surface piercing and most surface piercings do reject. since its right at the surface your body naturally wants to get it out so it will push the metal out., i wont last that long any you will have to get it redone, it will leave a noticable scar. and if u do get it keep it clean keep clothing, perfume and hair off of it, wash it with dial and sleep on ur tummy. hope i helped, and to the others nape piercings are not gross u narrow minded idiots, let people be!
Reply:Actually i don't think it stays in the same spot unless it's more around your jaw area, but your skin gets looser sometimes and there are marks and bumps on your skin. I think it would be better to ask a professional first though, and you'd have to be very careful with the piercing.
Reply:surface piercings are a bit hard to keep i believe.. they can tear out more easily than others..

i would contact your local tattoo parlor and ask them though..

please get it done professionally by a clean, reliable shop.. and listen to your piercer.. take good care of it.. infected piercings are hellish..

you'll probably have to clean it with bactine, salt water, or saline..

i don't think it's gross.. i'd just never have the guts to do it lol..

best of luck if ya do it..
Reply:idk ask your doc or local pirecing place
Reply:Well, if you really want to get you neck pierced, forget about the skin conditions, and just pierce it!and why not?! you will TOTALLY ROCK dudette! But in twenty years from now, your skin will sag and who really wants a sagging neck ring?!!!!!!!!!!!!! But remember, do what ever you feel comfortable with!!!!!!!!! God will help you with this one!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:It's not gross.

And it would be considered a surface piercing. Usually surface piercings don't last very long and tend to get rejected and migrate out. You would have to be very careful with it and take very very good care of it. It can leave a pretty bad scar if it migrates.

Check www.bmezine.com and read some peoples experiences with this type of piercing.
Reply:Wow I love peole who answer questions by insulting you. Must suck to be so dumb that thats the only way they can get points on this thing.....

ANYWAY I JUST learned about all this stuff and would love to share what my findings have been... this might be a little long but I love this kinda stuff so bare with me....

Nape piercings can be very cool. But everyone is right, they do tend to reject, as most surface pierings do. The body doesn't like something so large and so forgien so it tries to push it out, eventually making it more and more shallow. There are the rare occations that your body will accept it. I know a guy who's had his for years now...totally fine, totally healed.

BUT the latest trend that has been gaining speed for a few years and that everyone is recomending rather that getting entire barbells put under your skin is something called anchors. (dermal anchors, microdermal anchors) They're little studs that you get pierced in, and if you put two an inch apart from eachother can give the appearance of having the barbell. But because each piercing is independent of each other they can move seperately with your skin and muscles and have a much greater chance of NOT rejecting.

I got one just below my collar bone on each side this summer so it just looks like I have two little jewels glued to my chest. I get great reactions from them and I absolutely love them. They're sweet and feminine but still a little edgey.

But you can get them done anywhere. I've seen people put them in their arms to complement tattoos (like in a center of a flower or something), on their wrists, on their hips, etc etc

Def. do your research, it's still pretty new and not a lot of shops do it yet. If you're in the Southern CA area, namley San Diego, the shop that kinda started the trend is down here, and I could give you more info on them if you're interested.

Hope this helped some!
