Prenatal for a non pregnant person?

i heard if you arent pregnant you can take prenatals. i hears it helps your hair grow and become healthy and is good for skin and nails. is this true? if this isnt a good way to do this what can i take to promote faster hair and nail growth and also better skin. i do not have pimples or anything but it always seems like pregnant people have a glow. this might sound odd. please dont just laugh at this.

I use to work in an obgyn office and this question gets asked quite frequently. The doctor's response was always positive. Taking the prenatal vitamins really is not different then taking a multivitamin. There are simply larger amounts of certain vitamins that help a mother during pregnancy. Two of the main ones are calcium and iron. Make sure that you are not taking any other type of multivitamin along with the prenatal vitamins.
Reply:Don't worry, I'm not laughing. I'm not pregnant and I'm taking pre-natal vitamans to get my body ready for when we want to try. I have not seen a difference in my hair growth and I have bad skin to begin with (and it hasn't cleared up). I'm just one case so if you research some different prenatals you might find one that does those things for you. Good Luck!
Reply:im not pregnant but i take prenatal vitamins...basically they are just full of all kinds of things that are good for women..i havent gotten a pregnancy glow from the pills but my nails are stronger and my hair is in better condition...i feel better though and havent had any unpleasant side effects..plus i suppose when i do want to get pregnant i will have an easier time because my body already has all the nutrients and vitamins from the pills so it will probably help my pregnancy be easier on me and the baby..i got mine OTC at walmart for like $6
