Histiocytoma?

I have a Boston Terrior mix that has a growth on the left rear leg that has been diagnosed as histiocytoma. The vet said that it has all the similar signs of this condition and cells were extracted from the mass via a needle and examined under a scope. My concern and the vet's is the significant size. The current size is .75" in diameter and the growth under the skin is approx. 1" in depth. The face of the growth is black with a pink ring. It doesn't seem to bother the dog other than occasional licking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The dog is a 6 month old male. Thank you

Histiocytoma?
Histiocytomas usually go away on their own, but it can take a while. Since it is large you may want to have it removed, but they are not dangerous. I had a dog with a small histiocytoma on her lip that seemed to just appear one day, I took her to the vet and he said that it was a histiocytoma, and about 2 months later it just disappeared. Sometimes just the trauma from having the needle stuck into it will cause the growth to disappear.
Reply:Thank you for your reply. I will give it some time and hopefully it will go away as everyone seems to believe. Thanks again. Report It

Reply:My mother-in-laws White Westie had a few. Because they were where the dog could scratch them, and make them bleed (all over the place), she had them removed. No big deal!
