All of the ingredients that are not food, like the bacteria, the proteinated stuff, and the yeast, are very good for your dogs immune system, much like humans when exposed to a cold or the measles, we build our immune systems to become stronger, these aid in their digestive system too, by forcing out all the other ingredients left behind, after the vitamins were digested out, like the grains, the greens, the fruits, and the meats. A good brand of Dog Food, keeps all of these ingredients in the dog longer, like squeezing a sponge, it gets out more of the good stuff from the food, and a Cheaper brand, store brands, and discount brands, are more likely to make your dog go more often, due to the high fat and high grains, and less of the vitamin stuff. The major difference that I see is really marketing. By law, ingredients are listed by amounts. However, I bet that the marketed version (B) costs twice what (A) costs.





Dog food, especially dry dog food, has to fit a certain level of quality, otherwise people will stop buying it. In addition, dogfood has to maintain quality, because dogs have sensitive stomachs and if you change quality of ingredients, then the dog will get diarrhea for a week as it gets used to the change.





I feed my dog plain Purina dog food for 17 years (!) with no problems. I feed my current dog Purina Pro, because I think it may reduce potential for arthritis. But my point is to get the cheapest, brand name food that your dog will eat and will stay healthy.





Don't feed too many treats, Never feed people food, and follow the directions on the package for amounts.





Also, don't worry about dogs liking the taste... they will eat dirt or worse. They eat to live and gulp in a few moments. They don't savor every bite, like a cat might.





If the dog has problem, like skin issues, allergies, or arthritis, then you might change to more expensive brands.... These brands are not more expensive, necessarily, because the the quality of the chicken is better. They are more expensive because they include more ingredients, like Omega-3 oils (fish oil from salmon, etc. is MUCH better than Omega-3 from Flax seed alone.)





So my advice is go inexpensive - not cheapest - and get more expensive, if needed. So I like A.
Reply:Actually I wouldn't feed my great danes either of those. Dogs aren't vegetarians. They don't raid corn and rice fields. They are relatives of wolves which eat all meat products. They raid chicken coops and go after sheep...don't you watch cartoons...hehe.


Seriously, I feed my dogs a kibble that has meat for the first 4 ingredients. If I had the money I would feed them raw. Lots of people do that these days.
Reply:As someone who has studied dog foods and kibble making processes, I can tell you that while the ingredients sound good to humans.. Its a pack of lies that ANY of that (original nutrional value that they are boasting about ) is left by the time it reaches the dogs bowl. Secondly, these ingredients are very expensive and I can guarantee you that they are ot the same ingredients that you would feed to your family. The ingredients are rotton, decaying, rejected for human use and sold to dog food companies because they are where America dumps it's waste.


All you have to do to realize that is some math. 35 or 40 bucks for a 33 pound bag. The ingredients are paid for. (pennies because it is rotton, decaying and rejected for human use...) The manufacturer is paid, Workers, utilities, etc. the retailer is paid, the trucking companies are paid, the shiny bags it comes in are paid for, Advertising is paid for. Everyone takes their cut... Exactly how much goodness do you think is really in there?


Not to mention that the temperatures the food is cooked at takes ALL the nutrition out. It is added back in, in synthetic form. See the list at the bottom of recognizable foods in the ingredients.. The vitamins and minerals are added back in because f they were not, no nutrition would exist. These are the facts!


So they can put any dam thing they want in there and market it to sound good to PEOPLE so they can sell it. but the end result and fact is that it doesn't matter.


That said, these ingredients are better then what you would get from Ol Roy.


Speaking of 'All Natural'.. These are words used as selling tactics because these things are most certainly NOT all natural. No such thing as 'Organic' dogfood either. All you have to do to figure out these are lies and sales tactics is go buy your own family a couple of meals of All natural or organic meals and let me know what you food bill was. The laws regulating the use of these words is non exisitant practically and most certainly it is non existant for dog food!


Choose either. It simply does not matter.
Reply:Neither sounds good to me... Too many of the things dogs can't digest. Dogs are carnivores. They need meat, meat, more meat, a slight bit organ, slight bit of bone, and more meat.





Dogs lack the enzymes to break down cellular walls of plant matter to enable them to utilize the nutrients inside. Even if the cellular walls are broken down... dogs can't efficiently utilize the nutrition because they are meant to get all their nutrition from prey... the meat, bones, and organs of prey.

All scientific evidence points towards the fact that dogs, while not true carnivores, are opportunistic, carnivorous scavengers. Cats on the other hand are true, obligate carnivores, requiring animal protein to survive. There is a difference between a carnivorous scavenger and an omnivore though - dogs lack the dental characteristics, longer digestive tract and specific enzymes of true omnivores like humans. That is the reason why they can not digest grains and vegetables unless they are "predigested" by processing, mincing/grinding, breakdown by enzymes, or fermentation through bacteria. Once converted, they are fully available to the dog.





This does, however, not mean that your dog will thrive on a diet mainly made up of poor quality grains or grain fragments, which is what most cheap foods are. Whole grains, including their entire complement of nutrients are much more valuable - and this does not only apply for a dog's diet, but for humans as well!





Protein is the second most important substance the body is made up of, right next to water - accounting for about 50% of the dry body mass. Dietary protein contains the 10 essential amino acids required for building and maintaining muscle, hair, bone and organs and supporting other vital functions. Essential means that these substances must be supplied in the diet and can not be synthesized by the body.





The blend of protein sources is very important. Different ingredients contain different amounts of amino acids, both essential and non-essential. A product that relies on only a single source of meat (for example strictly lamb based diets) must be balanced by supplying other sources of protein, like whey, alfalfa, potatoes, or grains. The grain ingredients should not be the main protein source though, but only balance the overall profile of amino acids if necessary.





Lastly, I quote the Purina Rep "The animals fed Purina dog, cat, puppy and kitten Chow will exist on it." Personally, I don't want my animal to exist on anything! I want my pets to THRIVE!!!


Cast on my arm left a mole?

I just got a cast off two days ago, and I had it on for alittle over five weeks. I had a broken growth plate. Now, I've always had freckles and such on my skin (even a few small moles) but they are always very light in color. When I got my cast taken off I imediantly noticed a very dark (its practically black.) It is slightly raised up, but not much. Its also kind of shiny. It all of the skin on my arm is very sensitive right now, because its been covered for so long, so I cant tell if its tender on its own or not. I'm alittle worried, but my parents dont have health insurance and mom freaks out bad about anything that even sounds like cancer. (It runs in my family) Thats another reason why I'm kind of freaked. Over ten people on both sides of my family have had cancer. Should I go to the doctor? Or are freckles common when the skin has been covered for so long?

You are probably fine. It is very, very rare that moles turn to cancer. (If there is hair growing out of it, it is definitely not cancer.) Watch it for a week or two. If it grows or changes color, go to the doctor. If it is cancer, then it is skin cancer, and this will not kill you in a few short weeks. But again, you are most likely fine.

I wouldn't worry about it. no-- get it checked out tomorrow.. if you don't have health insurance and you live near canada, go there, they have free healthcare. you won't even qualify for health care in the US if any doctor knows you have the potential for any kind of desease. great country we live in.. even Cuba'a health system is better than ours. good luck. oh.. and if you get insured, you have to wait like 3 months before you get checked out, or your insurance will drop you for withholding information... good luck, if you have cancer in the US and you don't have money, you're basically dead.

Reply:It isn't cancer. Your skin is slightly malpigmented due to having been covered for so long. You already had the little mole, but it kinda blended in before. You are fine. No cancer. Keep it moisturized and if it gets bigger or gets hairy or anything then worry. But really it is just a mole.

Reply:its not anything to worry about, when i had a cast on i had it for almost three months (really complicated fractures in my arm) when the cast was removed my whole arm was creepy looking, it was discolored and the hair had all grown darker or seemed to have grown darker. it went back to normal after a couple weeks.


i dont know what the black spot is for sure but i would be willing to bet it is just a short term consequence of having the cast on. it will return to normal soon enough.
Reply:You can always develop new freckles/moles. Did you ask your doctor about it when they took off the cast? When you go back for a check up just ask them, even though that's not their type of practice. They can at least give you some info. on it. When I got my cast off my wrist my arm looked all kind of weird, it took a few weeks but then everything was back to normal. If things don't improve go to your school nurse or try to find a free clinic. Since your still young, there should be some social services for you, if you look hard enough. You have the Internet, check out info. about it on here too and try and find dermatologist that do charity work. Sometimes you can find places that do things like that once in a while. Good luck!


Question about polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)?

I think I may have PCOS. I haven't been to a doctor, but I was reading about it on the internet. I have a lot of the symptoms...problems with my periods (I get them every two weeks, often with heavy bleeding, and a lot of pain...I know people with PCOS usually get their periods infrequently, but I read somewhere that people with it can get their periods more frequently than what's normal as well). I'm overweight, I don't always eat the healthiest foods but I don't overeat, yet I keep gaining weight, not losing it. I have problems with my skin...very oily and I get big ugly pimples, especially before/during my periods. I'm also being treated for depression and anxiety (part of which I think is due to me being overweight and sometimes self conscious about my skin when it is broken out). My question is about the excessive hair growth...how much hair growth is considered excessive? I have hair on my stomach which is noticeable and I have hair on my face, but it's baby fine and not

I might be able to help, I once looked to the internet for help on my period issues, I had all the symptoms of PCOS, I was worried that it might effect me one day if I wanted a child so I went to several GYN's and I finally found one that helped, she did all kinds of tests and looked at all the symptoms I had and she said even with having all the symptoms, the tests showed that it wasnt PCOS, I had a hormone imbalance, and with that I still dont have normal periods but she gave me some helpful advise, she said birth control makes it worse, with all the symptoms of PCOS and if you have it or close to having it birth control only makes it worse. So try going with out any, relax and she told me that prenatal vitamins will help with losing weight, and somewhat make you normal. I am in the same boat you are in, I suggest go see a GYN or OB/GYN, and find out if you have it or not and see what thier suggestions are. Any other questions you have let me know I will be more than happy to help you!

Get a saliva test! these test give a better reading with your hormones than a blood test! I use a natural progesterone cream. It has saved my life! I thought that I was going crazy! Reply:I have PCOS, and I say go to you OB/GYN and get the ultrasound doen to see if you have the Pearl Necklace(cysts) around your ovaries... If you do they should put you on Metformin b/c it's from being insulin ressistant, and it helps you lose weight and gets your hormones straightened out! If you do have it and you start trying for kids they will put you on Clomid... That way you can have a chance of having a little one, but that didn't work for me and doesn't work with a lot of people... Most with PCOS have to do Invitro, but sometimes if you don't have it bad you can have kids easier.

Went to the dentist yesterday?

with what i thought was a ulcer on my gum.it is a white patch that is alittle sore,having checked it out,the dentist called it a boney out growth(a piece of bone with a thin layer of skin over it),which gives it the white colour.the dentist said that it may never go away,but why is it sore?,can anyone please provide more info on this %26amp; maybe the proper name for it,thank you.

The boney ridge you are referring to are called Tori. (more than one is Torus) They are very common on the lower jaw under the tongue, also on the palate (roof of the mouth) and sometimes on the outer part of the upper and lower jaw. The pain you could be feeling could be from scraping it from something sharp like hard-crusted bread, Doritos, pizza crust, etc. There is not much you can do on your own to make it better and they will not go away,sorry.


I would suggest you get a second opinion though just to make sure that is what it is, your description leaves me wondering, also an Oral Surgeon can reduce that Tori (they do it all the time) and it is a relatively simple procedure, but I would suggest getting a second opinion first.

Pregnant, not anemic, why so tired? I'm sleeping up to 12 hours at a time!?

Why am I so tired? Is there anything that anyone knows of that could be causing my exhaustion besides just the pregnancy? I'm not anemic and I don't have high blood pressure. I just always feel like I haven't slept in a week. I can sleep up to 12 hours at a time and then be tired again within a couple hours of waking.





I had a checkup a couple days ago and everything was right on the money for me being 24 weeks. I also feel the baby move a lot.





Other than exhaustion the only things I also experience that are new is that my stomach is very uncomfortably bloated all the time (probably just a normal growth spurt) and I have small weird circle on my skin that I don't know what it is. It's on my right arm. It's raised, puffy, itchy, pealing, and has been here about a week.

exhaustion is a sign of pregnancy and not just for anemia, so be cool, everything goes well.
Reply:Obviously, you should get a complete blood count taken by your physician, but I'm thinking perhaps the extreme fatigue could be due to low blood sugar. Really, see your OB/GYN guy again.

Reply:Thing on your arm? Go to webmd but sounds like ringworm. I could have slept through every single one of my pregnancies I was soooo tired. Try light exercise - walking for 30 minutes a day, eating healthy and are you taking your prenatal vitamins? Seriously though, even in pregnancy, exercise actually will give you more energy and will help your body get ready for childbirth. My harder births were when I was out of shape!
Reply:Of course you're tired...you're growing a baby! Okay, seriously, most of the time women experience extreme exhaustion in the beginning, but everyone is different...some women are nauseated through the entire pregnancy too...If everything checks out at the doc, then this may just be how you handle all the changes! As for the bloating...you may have some gas, that tends to happen a lot during pregnancy, as long as it isn't really causing you too much discomfort it should be okay...but if it is making you worry, ask your dr...as for the spot on your arm, you may want to have that checked...you may need a cream to help with the itching etc...best of luck to you!!!!
Reply:I felt like this and i took a multi vitamin and mineral suppliment called Elevit just for pregnancy. It works wonders. Gives me the extra boost i need to be active again.





Usually in your first trimester you do feel tired cause your body is changing. But you should be feeling a lot better now.





I would also try not to sleep too much. Sometimes when i do, i get more tired. Maybe try sleeping 10 hours only.





See how you go. Maybe doc has to give you a blood test to check for other things.
Reply:It is normal to feel tired and breathless during pregnancy (my wife had similar experience during her first pregnancy). The pregnant woman supports an extra life and needs more oxygen for this purpose.





What you should do is go for slow walk daily. This will make it easy for you during last days of pregnancy and help you breathe easy.
Reply:With my first pregnancy I was exhausted the WHOLE time. Your body is going thru alot of changes and working really hard so you may just need the extra rest. Enjoy it while you can get it because after your baby gets here you will miss it! lol.





As for the circle thing....that sounds alot like ringworm. Its a fungi that can come from many things. Best thing to do is go to a drug store and get a cream for it and put a bandaid over it because it tends to get bigger the more you mess with it.





It wont hurt your baby so dont worry about that. I had one on my back that I must have gotten from my cat and it clears up within a week or two depending on the size.

As for sleeping 12 and waking up tired its cuz you are sleeping too long. I know its weird the more you sleep the more tired you are when you get up. Pregnant or not its like that. As for the thing on your arm it sounds like ring worm to me. I would talk to you doctor about it, and see if there is anything you can take for it. Don't just assume that its ring worm and take some meds cuz whatever you take your baby takes too. So make sure you find out for sure what it is and what you can do about it safely.

As for the thing on your arm, you may want to get that checked out because it could be anything from ringworm to a bug bite or anything in between.


Went to the dentist yesterday?

with what i thought was a ulcer on my gum.it is a white patch that is alittle sore,having checked it out,the dentist called it a boney out growth(a piece of bone with a thin layer of skin over it),which gives it the white colour.the dentist said that it may never go away,but why is it sore?,can anyone please provide more info on this %26amp; maybe the proper name for it,thank you.

Sometimes, after a tooth extraction, you can get tiny bits of splinter coming to the surface and these can be removed with tweezers.


If it is loose bone, then ask your Dentist to remove it for you to relieve your pain.

Razor Burn?

Everytime I shave my bikini line, I get razor burn. I don't know anything else to try- I make sure to put lotion on after shaving, I shave with the growth direction of the hair as to not irritate the skin, I even don't wear underwear to prevent chafing. Does anyone have any other suggestions to avoid razor burn?

I have the same problem, however, I recently figured out what works best for me. I use this wash that is just for "sensitive female areas" I can't remember what it's called, but it's at Wal-Mart. I put it on really thick and let it sit for a bit and then shave in the direction of the hair growth. I also think that you just have to shave down there on a regular basis to sort of...strengthen the skin...so-to-speak. Don't use cheap razors, either, for me I feel like I have to push harder and maybe that's the case with you. I hope this works, if all else fails I've heard that waxing is good for that.

Reply:make sure to soak the area for about 5 min. in warm water and wash the area. then exfoliate (there are a ton of them now) the area. use a shaving cream for sensitive skin as it will provide you with more protection. also when you shave, pull your skin taunt. then exfoliate the area again. they make aftershave now for women that work ok. there is also a product called bikini zone that is supposed to help reduce/eliminate razor burn.





if those suggests don't work, you can try waxing or plucking. it hurts but it will last much longer than shaving. your doctor might also have some prescription medications/razors that you can try to get rid of it so you may want to discuss this with him/her.
Reply:The easiest way I have ever found (and I use this on my legs as well since I have sensitive skin) is to spray it with body spray after. I noticed my husband shaves his face everyday and doesn't get razor burn, so I asked him why. He said it's because he uses aftershave, which has alcohol. Body spray also has alcohol and if you use a good kind such as Bath and Body works, it has moisturizers in it as well. I've been doing this for about three weeks, and all is good now. You can buy that Bikini zone stuff, but it has the same ingrediants. Also, you have to make sure you shave it everyday because razor burn occurs when the hair starts to grow back in, so don't let it grow back in!

I have been receiving a lot of e-mail lately about diet. In the past, I was never concerned about what I ate. I just went to the gym, trained hard, and that was the extent of my routine. Not until recently did I realize the power diet has over the way your body looks and performs. I believe that diet is at least 75% of the fitness equation. In this article, I'm going to describe in detail what I have learned about diet during my 12-week transition period.


When to Eat and How Often


This might sound strange, but you have to eat more often to lose fat and gain muscle. During my transition period, I never ate less than 6 meals a day.


• Try to eat every 2 to 3 hours.


• Do not eat complex carbohydrates after 6:00 p.m. or four to five hours before going to bed.


• Try to eat one gram of protein per pound of lean body mass on lifting days and .8 grams of protein per pound of lean body mass on non-lifting days.


• Never eat more than 70 grams of protein in one meal.


Carbohydrates


When I think of carbohydrates, I think of energy. Carbohydrates supply our bodies with the energy it needs to make it through a workout. Without an adequate supply of carbohydrates, the body goes into carbohydrate deprivation. This is called a state of ketosis (meaning our body is using protein as energy). This is not a good state to be in for long because it will rob the body of muscle tissue in an effort to create energy. On the other hand, if too many carbohydrates are consumed, they convert into stored fat. The idea is to consume just enough carbohydrates to make it through our workouts with sufficient energy. I have broken down carbohydrates into these three categories:


• Simple carbs: These are sugars, or quick energy. They are absorbed very quickly into the body. Ex. Anything with sugar, also fruit


• Complex carbs: This is where you get long-term energy for the day. These are long chained carbohydrates that brake down slower, giving us energy over a prolonged period of time. Ex. Oatmeal, potatoes, pasta, rice, breads


• Fibrous carbs: These are things like vegetables. I think of them as roughage in order to stay regular. Make sure you include them in you later meals when you can't eat complex carbs. They are also a good source of vitamins. Ex. Leafy vegetables like lettuce.


Protein


Proteins are the building blocks of our muscles. Without a sufficient amount of protein in our diet, our muscles will not have the raw materials that they need to build up, or even hang on to what is already there.


Net protein utilization: Not all protein is created equal. Different foods are absorbed more than others. For example, egg white protein is absorbed at 88%. That means we get about 9 eggs to our muscles. On the other hand, chicken breast are absorbed at 68%, meaning we get about 7 breasts to our muscles. It is imported to eat a wide verity of protein foods though; no one protein source has all the amino acids we need.


• Whey protein (100%): the best source of whey protein is from protein supplements. It is also absorbed very fast by the body, so it is best to take this when your body needs amino acids quickly: like right after a workout or when you first get up in the morning.


• Egg whites (88%)


• Fish (78%)


• Chicken breast (78%)


• Soy protein: My one bit of advice would be to try and stay away from soy protein. It is not absorbed very well by the body.


Fats


We normally think of fats as being bad. The fact is certain fats are essential to building muscle and carrying out various functions of the body. There are 2 fat types we need to be concerned about:


• Saturated fats: these are the bad fats. Avoid these fats as much as possible. You will find these types of fats mostly in meats


• Unsaturated fats: these are the good fats. They are a good energy source and help us build muscle. You can find from plant oils. Peanuts are also a good source.


Water


Do not under estimate the importance of water! If you are looking to get lean, water will be your best friend. Drink as much as you can and as often as you can. Also, it is very important to drink lots of water when you're eating large amounts of protein to clean urea from the system.


Vitamins %26amp; minerals


As resistance training athletes, we have a greater need for vitamins %26amp; minerals. When we workout and bring blood to our muscles it is important that our blood is full of those essential vitamins %26amp; minerals if we want to grow.


Supplements


Supplements are just that, meaning they are used to supplement your diet, not replace it. Don't ever think of it that way.


Hierarchy of supplements:


I developed this hierarchy of supplements based on what I thought were the most important and also by price.


• 1. Proper diet: Without proper diet you are just wasting money on supplements. Start here! Do not think that supplements are going to do it for you alone.


• 2. Multi-vitamin %26amp; mineral: It is very important to have all your vitamins %26amp; minerals when resistance training. Most of us are lacking in some areas, make it a priority to make this your first supplement.


• 3. Protein powder: It is usually very hard to get all the protein you need from real foods. Powders make it much easier. Also, these powders are absorbed fast by the body making them ideal after workouts or before and after sleep.


• 4. Creatine: This is great for harder workouts. It also makes you muscles hang on to water, giving them a better environment to grow.


• 5. L-glutamine: This is an important amino acid in muscle recovery


• 6. Branch chained amino acid: These are great before and after workouts along with L-glutamine because it gives your muscles all the amino acids it needs to repair and grow.


• 7. ZMA: This helps you release more growth hormone while you sleep, increasing your size and strength.


• 8. Thermogenic: These really help in the fat loss process. They also help you hang on to more muscle while dieting due to the fact you can eat more.


• 9. Meal replacement: Although very expensive, meal replacements make it much more convenient to get some of your meals in. Also, you can get in more meals than if you were to eat only real foods.


"The golden hour"


Remember "The golden hour" because it will make things so much easier for you. "The golden hour" is a window of opportunity we have to get everything we have depleted in our body back in a short amount of time. Think of your muscles as a gas tank: When you workout, you use gas for energy or in this case glucose. After a workout, our muscles are in a unique state. They are able to fill back up very quickly leaving you full for the next workout. If you wait to long, your muscles don't fill back up as easily and the carbs you eat are more likely to be stored as fat. Doing this will also let you take advantage of insulin's muscle building effects from the simple carbs you have ingested. You want to ingest 50-75 grams of simple carbs right after a workout. Also, this is when you want to take your protein shake because it will absorb quickly and supply your muscles with the amino acids that they need.


Insulin


This is a very complicated subject, but all we need to know is that insulin can help us build muscle or can make us fat depending on the timing. Insulin is released by the pancreas in response to elevated blood sugar levels. We can achieve a high blood sugar level by ingesting simple carbs. Like "the golden hour" we have a window of opportunity to take advantage of the muscle building effects of the insulin without getting fat. We have about 4 or 5 hours after we workout to take advantage of insulin. If we take in too many simple carbs out of this window, we are very likely to store fat.


Cheat day


The theory behind the cheat days is you take one day every 2 weeks to eat anything you want and actually get leaner. It might sound crazy, but it worked for me. When you eat low carbs for a time for body begins to think it is not getting all the food it needs (because your not storing any fat) and begins to slow down your metabolism. When you bombard your body with food on that one day, it tricks your body into thinking it has all it needs and speeds your metabolism back up. I can tell you from experience, every day after a cheat day I felt leaner and looked better.


Ketosis


This is when your body uses protein for energy. This happens when we have too few carbs in the body or when we over train. I went into the state of ketosis for only the last week of my 12-week transition for a couple of reasons: (1) I wanted all of my muscles to shrink down so when I carbed back up, my skin would be tighter. (2) When you go into ketosis it seems to bring the water out from under the skin. Don't go into this state to loose fat. Without carbs your body can not burn fat effectively. You will loose weight rather quickly, but only because you don't have as much glycogen in the muscle. Also, you are simply loosing water. Remember that proteins are the building blocks for muscle and that means they are fair game for energy when in the state of ketosis. I would not recommend going into this state unless you are trying to get into a super ripped state for a short amount of time, like for a bodybuilding contest.


Here are some tips:





Keep A Training Journal


Detail and record your workout routines and poundages. Each week refer to them and select a few lifts on which to increase the weight. A log will provide a good indication of your training progress and of which exercises are working for you.





This allows you to eliminate lifts that are not producing results.





Eat Several Small Meals A Day


Eating this way insures you are providing your body with adequate nutritional support. Frequent small meals provide a consistent supply of nutrients for the most efficient muscle growth. Many diets provide inadequate, below maintenance levels of calories and nutrition. This results in catabolism of muscle tissue.





Eat Protein


Try to eat at least 1 gram of protein per lean pound of body weight daily. This is critical for people engaging in high-intensity resistance exercise because they need increased amounts of protein to support muscle growth. This goal can be easily met by supplementing the diet with amino acids or protein. Eat right, and treat your body with respect. Proper exercise will not counteract bad eating habits and poor eating patterns.





Avoid Distractions


Have conversations before and after workouts if you like, but once the workout begins, become self-centered, serious and selfish with time.





Vary Your Program


You must become your own exercise scientist. After a period of time, muscles become conditioned to the same routine and exercises--in other words they become immune to the workout. Gains become null. This can be overcome by periodically varying the order, exercises, and muscle groups. Keeping new angles and new exercises incorporated into your routine causes "muscle confusion" which forces muscles to break down more easily.





Increase Your Weight


Only by increasing the weight as often as possible will you provide muscles with the stimulus to protect themselves from future assaults by building up more muscle mass. This is the single most important fact for increasing muscle size and strength.





Train Hard, Not Long


Cut back on the amount of lifting you do and raise your intensity level. High-intensity muscular contractions are an absolute requirement for stimulating rapid, large-scale increases in muscular size and strength. Muscles respond to stimulus. Completing an arbitrarily chosen set of reps will not make muscle grow. You must take the last rep to failure--this is the most productive lift. Keep workouts relatively short. Overtraining in the quest for size can halt progress. Overtraining is a common and often fatal mistake made by novice and intermediate bodybuilders. Heavy lifting should not exceed much more than 30 minutes.





Train For A Complete Physique


It is great to develop exceptional muscle mass and tone, but it is a sorry state of affairs when there is so much body fat on your frame that the muscles you have worked for so hard don't even show. Add some aerobic training to your routine. Twenty minutes of aerobics daily is usually plenty. Calculate your aerobic heart rate by taking 220 minus your age and multiplying that by 70%.





Focus On The Muscle Group You Are Working


By concentrating on a specific muscle, you will automatically isolate it more. Do not rely heavily on machines. Free weights are more efficient for muscle growth.





Breath Corectly


Proper breathing is very important. Breathing supplies oxygen to the muscle cells, which is necessary for muscle contraction, and helps deliver energy and build the muscle. Exhale when you lift the weight. Inhale when you lower it.





Concentrate On The Negative


Most of the damage, and thus gains, in muscularity is caused during the negative (eccentric) portion of the lift. It is more important for growth to control the weight when lowering it than when pressing it upwards (concentric/positive). Concentrate on the negative portion of the lift. That is, lower the weight more slowly than you press it up.





Maintain Constant Resitance


A lift should be preformed with constant tension. Pressure should remain constant on the muscle group you are training throughout the exercise. May times this can be avoided by not locking out the joint in a effort to rest momentarily.





Full Range Of Motion


People make serious mistakes by not completing a full range of motion in their lifts. They either miss the top or bottom range.





Focus On Form, Not Weight


While you should always train as heavily as possible and increase the weight as often as you can, you must also perform the exercises using good form. Heaving a lot of weight can make you feel macho, but improper form will keep you from developing the best physique.





Achieve Peak Contraction


This is a training principle that turns the average "rep" into a growth-producing blitz. Rather than merely moving the weight up and down, you should actively squeeze it hard for a second at the peak of contraction.





Rest Is Critical


Allow at least 72 hours of rest before training the same muscle group. Some people may need more recovery time. Very few can get by with less.

THE BUDWIG FLAX OIL DIET








The Flaxseed (Linseed) oil diet was originally proposed by Dr. Johanna Budwig, a german biochemist and expert on fats and oils, in 1951 and recently re-examined by Dr. Dan C. Roehm M.D. FACP (Oncologist and former cardiologist) in 1990. Dr. Roehm claims: "this diet is far and away the most successful anti-cancer diet in the world".





Budwig claims that the diet is both a preventative and a curative. She says the absence of linol-acids [in the average western diet] is responsible for the production of oxydase, which induces cancer growth and is the cause of many other chronic disorders.








The beneficial oxydase ferments are destroyed by heating or boiling oils in foods, and by nitrates used for preserving meat, etc.





The theory is: the use of oxygen in the organism can be stimulated by protein compounds of sulphuric content, which make oils water-soluble and which is present in cheese, nuts, onion and leek vegetables such as leek, chive, onion and garlic, but especially cottage cheese.





Ferments of cell respiration closely connected with the highly unsaturated fatty acids, are also needed for proper oxydation. It is essential to use only unrefined, cold-pressed oils with high linolic acid content, such as linseed, sunflower, soya, poppyseed, walnut, and corn oils. Such oil should be consumed together with foods containing the right proteins otherwise the oils will have the OPPOSITE EFFECT, causing more harm than good.





The best combination is cottage cheese and linseed oil. The linseed should be freshly ground. Carbohydrates containing natural sugar, such as dates, figs, pears, apples and grapes, are also included in the diet. Honey is also beneficial. Most of the synthetic vitamin A preparations are bad because they contain oxidation products, but much carotine as provitamin A (from carrot) is consumed. Vitamin B from buttermilk, yoghurt, and natural yeast is beneficial.








A person requires daily about 4 oz. of cottage cheese mixed well with 1.5 oz. of linseed oil and 1 oz. of milk. A blender or egg beater works fine. The mixture an be sweeten with honey or otherwise flavoured naturally. Fresh fruits can be added. Every morning 2 spoonfuls of freshly ground linseed oil should be taken in luke warm buttermilk or yoghurt.





The diet is indicated for all kinds of chronic diseases, especially heart ailments (corony thrombosis), gall disorders, diabetes, arthritis, and malignancies. It improves failing hearing and sight. It is the ideal nutrient for children and infants. It is suggested that this diet be supplemented with lactic acid ferments (4).

GENERAL RULES





The patient has no nourishment on day ..1 other than 250 ml (8.5 oz) of Flax Oil with honey plus freshly squeezed fruit juices (no sugar added!). In the case of a very ill person, champagne may be added on the first day in place of juice and is taken with the Flax Oil and honey. Champagne is easily absorbable and has a serious purpose here.





1) SUGAR IS ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN. Grape juice may be added to sweeten any other freshly squeezed juices.





2) Other 'forbiddens' are:





- All animal fats.


- All Salad Oils (this included commercial mayonnaise)


- All Meats (chemicals %26amp; hormones)


- Butter


- Margarine


- Preserved Meats (the preservatives block metabolism even of Flax Oil)





3) Freshly squeezed vegetable juices are fine - carrot, celery, apple, and red beet.





4) Three times daily a warm tea is essential - peppermint, rose hips or grape tea - all sweetened as desired with honey. One cup of black tea before noon is fine.





DAILY PLAN





Before breakfast - a glass of Acidophilus milk or Sauerkraut juice is taken.





Breakfast - Muesli (regular cereal) is overlaid with 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of Flax Oil and honey and fresh fruit according to season - berries, cherries, apricots, peaches, grated apple. Vary the flavour from day to day. Use any nuts except peanuts! Herbal teas as desired or black tea. A 4 oz (120 g) serving of THE SPREAD (directions below). This is fine to eat 'straight' like a custard, or add it to other foods taken in the day as you will see.





Morning tea (10am) - A glass of fresh carrot juice, apple, celery, or beet-apple juice is taken.





Lunch - Raw salad with yoghurt-Flax Oil Mayonnaise (directions below).


In addition to 'greens' salads, use grated turnips, carrots, kohlrabi, radishes, sauerkraut or cauliflower. A fine powder of horseradish, chives or parsley may be added for flavour.





Cooked Meal Course - Steamed vegetables, potatoes, or such grains as rice, buck-wheat or millet may be served. to these add either THE SPREAD or THE MAYO - for flavour and to up your intake of Flax Oil. Also mix THE SPREAD with potatoes for an especially hearty meal. Add caraway, chives, parsley or other herbs.





Dessert - Mix fresh fruit other than those used for breakfast with THE SPREAD, this time (instead of honey), flavoured using cream of lemon, vanilla or berries.





Afternoon Tea (4pm) - A small glass of natural wine (no preservatives) or champagne or fresh fruit juice with 1-2 tablespoons of honey-coated Fax Seeds.





Supper - Have this early, at 6pm. Make a hot meal using buckwheat, oat or soy cakes. grits from buckwheat are the very best and can be placed in a vegetable soup, or in a more solid form of cakes with herbal sauce. Sweet sauces %26amp; soups can always be given far more healing energy by adding THE SPREAD. Only honey or grape juice can be used for sweeteners. NO white sugar (or brown!) Only freshly squeezed juices and NOT reconstituted juices (preservative danger) may be used. These must be completely natural.





How to prepare 'THE SPREAD'





Place 250 ml (8.5 oz) Flax Oil into a mixer bowl and add one pound (450 g) of 1 ottage Cheese (ie low fat eg Quark) and add 4 tablespoons (60 ml) of Honey. Turn on the mixer and add just enough low fat milk or water to get the contents of the bowl to blend in together. In 5 minutes, a preparation of custard consistency results that has NO taste of the oil (and no oily 'ring' should be seen when you rinse out the bowl).





Alternatively, you can use Yoghurt instead of Cottage Cheese in proportions of 1 oz (30 g) of Yoghurt to 1 tablespoon (15 ml) each of Flax Oil and of honey and blend as above.





NOTE: When Flax Oil is blended like this, it does not cause diarrhoea even when given in large amounts. It reacts chemically with the (sulphur) proteins of the cottage cheese, yoghurt, etc.





How to prepare 'THE MAYO' (Mayonnaise):





Mix together 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Flax Oil, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) milk, and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Yoghurt.





Then add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of Lemon juice (or Apple Cider Vinegar) and add 1 teaspoon (2.5g) Mustard plus some herbs such as marjoram or dill.





Next add 2 or 3 slices of health food store pickles (no preservatives! - read label!) and a pinch of herbal salts.





(The above mayonnaise plus lots of mustard and a few bananas is very tasty!)





Concluding remarks by Dr. Roehm - "I only wish that all my patients had a PhD in Biochemistry and Quantum Physics to enable them to see how with such consummate skill this diet was put together. It is a wonder. The champagne vehicle IS easier to assimilate and get someone almost on their death-bed going again. A retention enema of 250 ml (8.5 oz) of oil is another route to get this precious life-furthering, ELECTRON-RICH oil into the body. It can also be applied to the skin for transdermal


absorption. I'll answer your questions and give you "special orders" for you particular case.





You will have to remain on this diet for a good 5 years, at which time your tumour may have disappeared. Persons who break the rules of this diet, Dr Budwig reports, (ie eating preserved meats, candy, etc) will sometimes grow rapidly worse and cannot be saved after they come back from their spree (bon-bons mean bye-bye).





In 1967, Dr Budwig broadcast the following sentence during an interview over the South German Radio Network, describing her incoming patients with failed operations and x-ray therapy":





"Even in these cases it is possible to restore health in a few months at most, I would truly say 90f the time".





"This has never been contradicted, but this knowledge has been a long time reaching this side of the ocean, hasn't it? Cancer treatment can be very simple and very successful once you know how. The cancer interests dont want you to know this.





May those of you who have suffered from this disease (and I include your family and friends in this) forgive the miscreants who have kept this simple information from reaching you for so long".

"The red blood cells in the lungs give up carbon dioxide and take on oxygen. They are then transported to the cell site via the blood vessels, where, they release their oxygen into the plasma. This released oxygen is "attracted" to the cells by the "resonance" of the pi-electron" oxidation-enhancing fatty acids. Otherwise, oxygen cannot work its way into the cell. "Electron rich fatty acids" play the decisive role in "respiratory enzymes, which are the basis of cell oxidation...".





"Dont eat anything hydrogenated like (like margarine, or fried foods) as it defeats oxygenation. Avoid products that say "hydrogenated".





"We should eat essential polyunsaturated fatty acids to enhance oxygenation. They can be found naturally in Carotene, Saffron, and Flaxseed oil."

Who is Dr. Johanna Budwig?








Dr. Johanna Budwig is known and highly respected around the world as Germany's premier biochemist. In addition, Dr. Budwig holds a Ph.D. in Natural Science, has undergone medical training, and was schooled in pharmaceutical science, physics, botany and biology. Fats-Good and Bad


Dr. Johanna preaches against the use of what she calls "pseudo" fats. In order to extend the shelf life of their products, manufacturers use chemical processes that render their food products harmful to the body. These harmful fats go by a number of names, including "hydrogenated," "partially hydrogenated" and even "polyunsaturated."





The chemical processing of fats destroys the vital electron cloud within the fat. Once the electrons have been removed, these fats can no longer bind with oxygen, and they actually become a harmful substance deposited within the body. The prime cause of cancer is not genetic


Cancer was once an uncommon disease affecting a small percentage of Americans. In 1900, only 3% of the population died of cancer.2 But now, cancer has become so common that virtually everyone knows someone afflicted with this terrible disease. In fact, for the average American, contraction of cancer isn't the exception; instead, it has become the rule.3 We've come to accept cancer as unstoppable, incurable and even a natural part of life. This perception is a tragedy, since cancer is not a natural disease for man and is preventable.


What is shocking to most people, is the scientific fact that cancer is genetically recessive, not dominant. In fact, the human body is highly resistant to cancer. In 1969, Professor Henry Harris of Oxford University shook the cancer research community to its core when he proved these previous theories wrong. Professor Harris took normal tissue cells and fused three types of cancer cells to them. Surely, he thought, the cancer cells would take over the normal cells and "convert" them into cancer. Surprisingly, they grew normally.4


Contrary to popular opinion, cancer takes several decades to develop in humans.5 Given this long incubation period, science can show us the way to destroy any initial pre-cancerous cells and keep the cancerous ones from causing widespread damage.


If you think cancer has a genetic basis, then think again. Dr Robert A. Weinberg of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the world's leading cancer researchers and discoverer of the so-called oncogene (cancer-causing gene), reversed his previous conclusions after discovering that "fewer than one DNA base in a million appears to have been miscopied". It's not enough of a defect! His exact words: "Something was very wrong. The notion that a cancer developed through the successive activation of a series of oncogenes had lost its link to reality." He called the genetic discoveries made thus far "sterile".6 The prime cause of cancer is therefore not genetic. This was announced in 1998. Did you hear about it? Probably not.


In 2006, the heads of the world's largest cancer research centre in Houston, Texas, announced that cancer's prime cause isn't genetic: "'If it could have happened [solving cancer with genetics], it would have already happened with genetic mutations,' said William Brinkley, a senior vice-president at Baylor who says other research should take precedence over the cancer genome projectÉ Dr John Mendelsohn [president of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center] states, 'Any claims that this [genetic research] is going to be the key to curing cancer are not appropriate.'"7


Thus, the prime cause of cancer is not a genetic mutation. Even if cancer "runs in your family", there is real hope. Unfortunately, the geneticists have it backwards, attempting to force the facts to fit their genetics-based theories when they don't fit the facts, because, as Professor Harris demonstrated many years ago, cancer isn't genetically dominant. Where does this leave us? Where can we look for solutions? What about the popular nutritional solutions to fighting cancer?





The popular anti-cancer "solutions" don't work


Most people diligently follow the experts' recommendations in the hope of winning the war on cancer. Unfortunately, virtually nothing of what we are told is based on scientific facts. Consider the following list of supposed "solutions", along with the date of their published failures as reported in the world's leading medical journals. Many of us never hear of the retractions and consequently keep following methods that don't protect us from contracting cancer.


(a) Fruits and vegetables: Even the green leafy vegetables don't protect against contracting breast cancer (JAMA 2001; 285:769-776).8


(b) Fibre: This worsens colon cancer rather than helping prevent it (Lancet 2000; 356:1286-7).9


(c) Mammography: Samuel S. Epstein, MD (chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition), Rosalie Bertell and Barbara Seaman published an article exposing truths about mammography that most women have never been told (Int J Health Sci 2001; 31(3):605-15): "Contrary to popular belief and assurances by the US media...mammography is not a technique for early diagnosis. In fact, a breast cancer has usually been present for about eight (8) years before it can finally be detected..."10


(d) Fish oil: Most fish oil supplements are worthless in preventing cancer and may be hazardous to your health (articles: 1995Ð2006). The International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL) 4th Congress, which met on 4Ð9 June 2000 in Tsukuba, Japan, reported the following:11


"...[S]tudies indicate that at the levels used, fish oil [comprised of omega-3 derivatives] decreases a wide range of immune cell responses (natural killer cell, cytotoxic T lymphocyte activities, lymphocyte proliferation and production of IL-2 and IFN-y (1,2))..."


"...Recent studies have indicated that relatively low levels of the long chain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA or DHA)...are sufficient to bring about some of the suppressive effects..."


"...This decrease (of inhibited lymphocyte proliferation and natural killer cell activity) causes increased cellular bacteria [infection] and impaired tumor cell killing."


Any substance causing impaired tumour cell killing ability is cancer-causingÑthe opposite of what we desire. With so many of us consuming fish oil, could this be another reason that cancer contraction rates are increasing instead of decreasing?


Fish oil is also worthless in preventing heart disease, and Harvard Medical School warned us about this years ago but too few Americans listened.12 Consuming whole fish instead of fish oil failed, too.13


The Japanese have greater cancer rates and greater heart disease rates than Americans. Cancer has been Japan's number-one cause of death since 1981.14 The popular media don't often disclose these startling facts.


In January 2006, the omega-3 anti-cancer fallacy was exposed (JAMA 2006; 295(4)): "A large body of literature spanning numerous cohorts from many countries and with different demographic characteristics does not provide evidence to suggest a significant association between omega-3 fatty acids and [lack of] cancer incidence. Dietary supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids [is] unlikely to prevent cancer."15


The most comprehensive analysis to date, published in the British Medical Journal of 24 March 2006, reviewing 96 trials including 44 trials with supplements and five trials consisting of mainly ALA (parent omega-3) from plants like flax with the remainder being fish oil, confirms the anti-cancer failure: "We found no evidence that omega-3 fats had an effect on the incidence of cancer and there was no inconsistency... This systematic review assessed the health effects of using omega-3 fats (together or separately) on total mortality, cardiovascular events, cancer and strokes in a wide variety of participants and found no evidence of a clear benefit of omega-3 fats on health."16


Unfortunately, in spite of these facts, most physicians around the world still recommend fish oil to prevent both cancer and heart disease.


(e) Soy: Soy products won't protect you against contracting cancer, either. The properties of soy are still touted by nutritionists, physicians and popular health and beauty publications, all ignorant of the scientific facts. There is a very hazardous side to soy that you need to know about. For example, the article "Soybean Goiter: Report of Three Cases" (NEJM 1960; 262(22):1099-1103) details three cases of infants developing goitre when they were consuming soybean "formula". The condition was rapidly eliminated in two of the infants when the soy "formula" was terminated. The third child was cured when iodine was added to the diet.17


What did soy formula have to do with thyroid (goitre) problems? Soybeans are a source of isoflavonoids, including genistein and daidzein. Contrary to popular belief and what is often reported in the media, they are both hazardous to your health. The following comes from Biochemical Pharmacology 1997; 54:1087-96): "Soybeans contain compounds (genistein and daidzein-the 'active ingredients') that inhibit [interfere with] thyroid peroxidase (TPO) which is essential to thyroid hormone synthesis [production]." Soybeans are not good for the thyroid! The popular so-called phyto-oestrogens genistein and daidzein are actually endocrine disruptors. Women around the world have been misled. What does soy "formula" have to do with the iodine deficiency? Soy contains phytates which "magnetise out" essential nutrients like iodine.


Today, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Health and Human Services, lists 288 records of soy at its "FDA Poisonous Plant Database" (March 2006 revision). Their website will shock you as you discover that soy is anything but a health food (http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~djw/pltx.cgi?Q...


Soy harms your immune system, too. Back in 1975, the Canadian Journal of Biochemistry reported that soybeans actually weaken your immune system:21 "Soybean trypsin inhibitor was found to inhibit transformation of human lymphocytes..."


Here's why this happens. Trypsin is an enzyme produced by your pancreas and used in digesting protein; it is critical for antibody production. An inhibitor is something that disables. Think of it like having one foot on the gas and another on the brake of your automobile at the same time. Your car's engine would blow up.


So a trypsin inhibitor will irritate your pancreas, stressing it to produce hormones when it can't, leading to decreased oxygenation from the irritation. Soy prevents the protein you eat from being fully utilised and digested. Your immune system can't get fuelled with proper antibodies and lymphocytes--a double whammy. Therefore, soy is cancer-causing to your pancreas, and cancer of the pancreas is typically a death sentence. Because of bad advice, many women especially have decreased the amount of cancer-fighting animal-based protein they consume in favour of soy. Resist this incorrect advice and minimise your chances of contracting both thyroid and pancreatic cancer.





Dr Otto Warburg's anti-cancer research


Many of my physician colleagues were shocked to discover these truths. How many of us saw these important medical journal findings reported in the popular press? Unfortunately, not enough of us. Don't despair, because there is an anti-cancer answer. It was discovered back in 1925 by Otto Warburg, MD, PhD. Dr Warburg has been referred to as the greatest biochemist of the 20th century; the sheer number and magnitude of his discoveries qualify him as the most accomplished biochemist of all time.22


In the 1920s, Dr Warburg carried on the research on respiratory enzymes, certain vitamins and minerals that the body requires for the utilisation of oxygen in the cells, which eventually earned him the Nobel Prize in 1931. (Today, these vitamins and minerals are termed "co-enzymes".) The Nobel Committee clearly expected the medical world to benefit through Otto Warburg's vital discoveries about cancer. Unfortunately, politics intervened and cancer wasn't eradicated.


Despite his early successes and honours, Dr Warburg continued to make major fundamental discoveries throughout his later years as well, capping off an amazingly fruitful 60-year career in research. In addition, Dr Warburg often created new tools for his research. For example, he discovered how to measure the pressure of oxygen in a living cell by developing a special manometerÑa very important development that led to his discovery that low oxygen concentration and pressure always presaged the development of cancer.


The importance of Dr Warburg's achievement is that he isolated the functional prime cause of cancer. Rather than working on a theoretical level too far removed from the physiological realities of cancer to be able to provide practical therapies and preventive programs, he described the actual conditions in the cells that set up and cause cancer, and by doing this made it possible for others later to develop functional, practical ways to inhibit the development of cancer.


It is appalling that no significant principle out of his numerous discoveries has been utilised by the US medical research community for cancer prevention, treatment and remission retention. Despite the expression of opinions disputing the direction and validity of Warburg's work, no scientist or researcher has ever disproved the validity, correctness or applicability of these important discoveries to the prevention and cure of cancer. Even today, medical consensus often has little to do with science. Politics has squandered the efforts of many cancer researchers.








The prime cause of cancer


We have become so accustomed to being told that "some day" we might discover what causes cancer and that cancer is the major medical mystery of our modern time, that the following might be hard to believe.


Dr Otto Warburg discovered and clearly stated that the prime, most basic, cause of cancer is too little oxygen getting into the cell. "We find by experiment about 35% inhibition of oxygen respiration already suffices to bring about such a transformation during cell growth," he stated at a 1966 conference of Nobel laureates in Lindau, Germany.28


That's it! It sounds very simple, doesn't it? Just one-third less oxygen than normal and you contract cancer. Based on meticulous experiments that he and many others verified numerous times, Dr Warburg discovered and stated that the prime, number-one cause of cancer is simply too little oxygen getting into the cell (hypoxia).


It gets worse because once a cell becomes cancerous, it can't return to normal; it must be destroyed (Science 1956; 123(3191)).29


When I first encountered this information, I didn't believe it. Even now, there is still no one who is more shocked than I am! To my amazement, this cancer-oxygen connection information has been published numerous times in recent cancer journals, e.g., Radiotherapy and Oncology 1993; 26(1):45-50 and 1999; 53:113-17.30 However, the practical solution to solving the oxygen deficiency problem has evaded researchersÑprobably because they haven't known where to start.


Taking hydrogen peroxide, calcium supplements, fish oil supplements, massive amounts of omega-3, ozone or so-called "oxygenated water" won't solve the cellular oxygen deficiency. No one has been able to advance Dr Warburg's discovery until now.


This lack of understanding explains many of the misunderstood biochemical activities related to cancer that waste precious time and lead virtually nowhere. Only Dr Warburg's anti-cancer discovery predicts so many never-before-explained real-life results.31


Dr Warburg's discovery has been verified numerous times both in turning normal cells cancerous and in showing that cancer doesn't develop in highly oxygenated areas. Surprisingly, it was American physicians who conclusively proved it in 1953 and confirmed it in 1955! Goldblatt and Cameron noted (p. 535) (J. Experimental Medicine 1953; 97:535-552) that once damage is too great to the cell, then no amount of oxygen will return the cell's respiration back to normal: it is forever doomed to a cancerous life.


This is why prevention is the ultimate solution to never contracting cancer. However, they confirmed it is possible to prevent a "respiration-impacted" precancerous cell from becoming permanently cancerous if oxygen deficiency is stopped early enough.32








Secondary causes of cancer


Virtually every supposed cause of cancer mentioned today in the health and nutritional media is a secondary cause. Secondary causes include things such as environment, chemical carcinogens, environmental and medical radiation, trans-fats, food additives, the chemicals in tobacco smoke, viruses and even genetic mutations.


There are innumerable secondary causes of cancer, and minimising them and their harmful effects can be helpful in preventing cancer. But endlessly pursuing new secondary causes, like smoking, without explaining specifically what common effect they have on the cells, has never led, and will never lead, researchers to a real cancer cure.


Dr Warburg cautioned us again and again about wasting precious time pursuing secondary causes. Make no mistake about this: the thing every secondary cause of cancer has in common with every other one is that it leads, directly or indirectly, to insufficient oxygen in the cells. Therefore, if we directly address the question of how to get sufficient oxygen into the cells, we will have minimised the danger from every type of secondary cause.





Exercise is not the solution to remaining cancer-free


I know what many of you are likely thinking: "I exercise a lot, therefore I am oxygenating my blood. I've got cancer beat!" No. All that exercise didn't stop world champion cyclist Lance Armstrong from contracting cancer. It is true that by exercising you are increasing oxygenation to your blood. However, by doing so, you still haven't guaranteed that this oxygen will be transferred effectively to each cell in each organ in your body.


Dr Warburg made it quite clear that oxygen alone is not sufficient: "To be sure, cancer development takes place even in the presence of free oxygen gas in the atmosphere, but this oxygen may not penetrate in sufficient quantity into the growing body cells, or the respiratory apoenzymes of the growing body cells may not be saturated with the active groups."34


There are many factors that promote the lack of cellular oxygen, including certain deficiencies we will talk about shortly. Exercise, by itself, is therefore not the solution to remaining cancer free. Many people, including athletes, who exercise regularly still get cancer. Furthermore, a person breathes at least 17,000 times a day (12 breaths a minute). Do you really think that you aren't breathing in enough oxygen with 17,000 breaths a day? You are. The problem lies elsewhere.





Essential fatty acids and EFA-containing oils


The body requires special fats that, among other important functions, make it possible for sufficient oxygen to reach the cells via the cellular membranes, which are the key. These special fats are highly oxygen-absorbing. Called essential fatty acids, or EFAs, these special fats must be supplied from outside the body every day, from foods and certain oils, because your body can't manufacture them on its own. There are two "parent" forms of EFAs that allow your body to make whatever it needs from them, i.e., various types of EFA "derivatives". Parent omega-6 is termed linoleic acid (LA), and parent omega-3 is termed alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).

With all the hoopla about olive oil, I want you to know that it contains mainly omega-9, a non-essential oil that your body itself makes. "Extra virgin" olive oil is traditionally unprocessed and therefore not cancer-causing, but it won't protect you against contracting cancer in the least. Avoid margarine: it won't go bad even when kept out of the fridge. This is the proof of hydrogenated oil's failure to oxygenate. If it still could oxygenate when eaten, it would turn rancid when left unrefrigerated--just like fish does. Canola and soy oils are not recommended; neither was ever meant for human consumption but as food for farm animals or for industrial applications. Many foods, especially salad dressings, now contain canola oil. You should try to avoid it.


The oils must be uncooked, or at the very least only slightly heated, to retain their important nutritional properties. Also bear in mind that some supplement manufacturers' labels fail to separately identify and distinguish the parent EFAs from the EFA derivatives. It may be impossible to tell whether you are getting the parent EFAs or the EFA derivatives. Make certain of what you're getting before you purchase it. Make sure the oils are raw, unprocessed and organic and that they do not contain fish oil or any hydrogenated oils.





Omega-6 versus omega-3 ratios in the body


We must look at the tissue content of our bodies to determine what oils contain the best anti-cancer EFAs. It is known from pathology studies that the brain and nervous system have a ratio of one part omega-6 to one part omega-3 (1:1). Some nutritionists suggest that this ratio is best, but they are wrong. Here's why.


Most organs contain a 4:1 omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. However, the brain, nervous system and organs comprise only about 12% of body weight. Skin is 100% parent omega-6 and contains no omega-3;35 it comprises about 4% of body weight. The muscles comprise at least 50% of total body weight and are the prime factor to account for in determining the required parent omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. A key fact about muscle structure is that muscle contains from 5.5 to 7.5 times more omega-6 than omega-3, depending on the degree of physical condition.36 We are warned about "overdosing" on omega-6 in our diets and told that we must take lots of oils containing omega-3 to compensate. We are told that we are ingesting upwards of 20 times too much omega-6. This is wrong, and there is much more to the analysis.


Scientifically, you need an organic supplement with a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 of 1:1 up to 2.5:1. With this powerfully effective ratio, you only require a minimum amount of 3-4 grams on a daily basis. This ratio is significantly different than your physician, health practitioner or writers on popular nutritional publications will likely suggest: they simply don't know and understand the basis of it. Today, people automatically think of fish oil or flax oil as the anti-cancer solution. Following these incorrect recommendations is a significant factor in why America's cancer rates continue to skyrocket in spite of millions of people taking these oils. Fish oil, with an overdose of omega-3 series derivatives, can actually be cancer-causing-the opposite of what we desire--and flax oil contains far too much parent omega-3.


Most parent omegas do not get converted to derivatives; they remain in the cell membranes and tissues in original parent form. Few scientists understand this and few medical texts explain it.37 Furthermore, commercial food processing destroys a significant amount of these EFAs, along with their oxygenating ability.





EFA-containing foods in the diet


Here's a representative listing of categories of foods containing these essential oils. It is imperative to understand that these foods must be grown organically and, if necessary, processed with low heat and no artificial preservatives-otherwise the EFAs will be ruined, like the trans-fat, hydrogenated, cancer-causing oils you've heard about. Compare your diet and these EFA-containing foods. Are you getting enough of them?


Dairy/eggs/cheese: "Raw milk" cheeses and organic eggs are excellent sources of EFAs. Pasteurised (heated) milk is deficient in EFAs and is detrimental to infants.


Meats: Organically raised and processed chicken, beef (grass-fed is best38), lamb, pork, etc. are rich sources of EFAs. Animal-based protein is also important for obtaining anti-cancer vitamins and minerals and for producing strong haemoglobin which enables oxygen transportation.


Nuts: Organic, unprocessed raw almonds, walnuts, peanuts, cashews, etc.


Seafood: Shrimp (prawns), fish, lobster, crab, clams, oysters, etc. It is important to understand that consuming lots of seafood is not the anti-cancer answer. Seafood is overly abundant in both parent and derivative omega-3 EFAs. Fish, especially farmed fish, contains mostly omega-3 derivatives; farmed fish and oil from farmed fish are to be avoided.


Seeds: Organic sunflower, sesame, flax, pumpkin, etc.








The following foods do not contain usable EFAs for humans:


Fruits and vegetables: Animals with multiple stomachs can extract EFAs out of plant-based cellulose like grass, but humans, with only one stomach, cannot. Even if we could extract the EFAs, we could never eat the volume required to get enough.


Grains/cereals: Humans cannot extract the EFAs from them.





The miracle of EFA "oxygen magnets"


Think of these polyunsaturated EFAs as "oxygen magnets". The proof of this fact is buried in the world's leading medical textbooks and medical journals such as Harper's Illustrated Biochemistry, 26th edition,40 and Human Nutrition Clinical Nutrition, July 1984.41


EFAs are integral to the structure and function of cellular respiration. Without high respiration efficiency, cancer is soon to follow. These EFA oxygen magnets in the cell membrane attract the oxygen that's in the bloodstream and transfer it into the cell, just like little oxygen sponges. This process is supposed to be happening in each of the body's 100 trillion cells.


So, no matter how much you breathe or exercise, if you don't have the proper functional EFAs at the cellular level then your cells will not absorb enough oxygen from your bloodstream and you will be that much more susceptible to cancer. Remember that the cancer "threshold" is a 35% decrease in cellular oxygen.


Without a continuing new supply of these EFAs from food, cellular oxygen transfer is significantly reduced. Imagine what would happen if you had 100 trillion cells that were all deficient in a vital substance they required to be able to absorb oxygen.


Here's an example showing how these essential fats absorb oxygen. At the supermarket, fish goes bad in only a few days because the oil in the fish is highly oxygen-absorbing-it reacts rapidly with the oxygen in the air. Fish spoils rapidly because the EFA-containing oil has the capacity to absorb lots of oxygen. This chemical process is called oxidation. This is also true with other types of essential fats. They do their job of absorbing oxygen, but because of it they have a limited life. They simply won't work after a short period. EFAs become "spent", i.e., rancid. That's why they need to be replaced every day from our food-Nature designed us this way.


There are many ways to add additional oxygen to the bloodstream, such as by exercising, drinking "oxygenated" water or breathing purer air. However, these partial solutions are insufficient for maximum anti-cancer protection. When the EFA deficiency is solved, every organ becomes its own "oxygen magnet", just as Nature intended.





Breast cancer and oxygen deficiency


Breast cancer is the number-one cancer plague to women worldwide. The growing incidence of breast cancer can be explained for the first time in light of Dr Warburg's discovery about lack of oxygen to the cells.


The breasts consist of an exceptionally high amount of fatty tissue. A typical cell membrane in muscle tissue is half-fat and contains about one-third EFAs (oxygen transferors). However, fatty tissue like the breast contains areas of 80-95% fat concentration. These fatty components of breast tissue require and should have high EFA concentrations, but because of modern food processing they don't. Because important organs such as the brain, heart, lungs and kidneys require EFAs on a priority basis, there may not be enough left over to ensure that breast tissue receives an adequate amount of EFAs.


Therefore, oxygen deficiency in the breast tissue will be very significant.


Given this premise, we can deduce that breast tissue should and would be the number-one expected cancer site in women worldwide, and it is. This conclusion makes so much sense in explaining the massive rise in breast cancer rates. Harvard's Dr W. C. Willett gives us the proof. In a study on the intake of parent omega-6 involving over 80,000 nurses, it was shown that the group with the lowest intake of linoleic acid (parent omega-6) exhibited the highest incidence of breast cancer (NEJM 1987; 316(1):22-28).42


Has your ob-gyn told you that you need this miraculous anti-cancer nutrient? I doubt it; he or she probably doesn't know.





Fish oil won't stop heart disease


Surprisingly, it was known back in 1979 that diet influenced EFA composition of the cell membrane; this finding was published in Cancer Research (1979; 39:1726-32).43 In 1990, a masterpiece of research conducted by William E. Lands found that the amount of critical parent omega-6 in the tissues was dependent on diet (Lipids 1990; 25(9):505-16).44


To gain the best in scientific research, in 2002 I attended the world's 1st Essential Fatty Acids and Human Nutrition and Health International Conference in Shanghai, China.


There I discovered a shocking and unexpected discovery that fish oil lowers immunity. I nearly fell out of my chair! Overdosing on fish oil supplements can significantly decrease the effectiveness of your immune system, increasing your risk of contracting cancer. The International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL) June 2000 Congress in Tsukuba, Japan,45 had reported this startling fact, as noted earlier.


And don't think that fish oil prevents heart disease. It doesn't. Cardiovascular Research (2002; 54:183-190) reported on a study where both the fish oil group and the control group showed close to equal atherosclerotic progression (arteries getting more clogged in spite of taking fish oil supplements). Nor did fish oil stop thickening of the artery. On the contrary, the artery wall got thicker (worsened) with fish oil ingestion! A mere 1.65 grams per day of fish oil supplement was taken-a great enough dose to cause adverse immunity and excessive internal bleeding, too.46


These results showing the failure of fish oil were published in 2002. Did this stop "experts" in the nutritional and medical fields and even in our governments from declaring how great fish oil supplements are? No!


Harvard Medical School was involved in a study, published in 1995, titled "Controlled Trial of Fish Oil for Regression of Human Coronary Atherosclerosis" (Am Coll Cardiol 1995; 25(7):1492-8).47


The daily dose was six grams of fish oil versus six grams of olive oil in the control group. Their conclusion? "Fish oil treatment for two years does not promote major favorable changes in the diameter of atherosclerotic coronary arteries" (author's emphasis). This means that arterial clogging was not decreased with the fish oil supplements.





Omega-6 derivative AA prevents blood clotting


Dr Warburg understood that slow blood speed allowed cancer to metastasise. Later, other researchers showed that if you can keep a localised cancer from metastasising, your risk of dying from cancer decreases by an amazing tenfold! Even though you may have cancer, you won't die from it. Blood speed and viscosity have a connection to the spread of cancer. This is a surprising, seldom-mentioned fact that was pointed out by world-renowned molecular biologist Robert Weinberg.49


What causes metastasis? Blood clots, and this is known, too.50 What prevents blood from "sticking together" and is also Nature's natural blood-thinner that prevents blood clots? No, it's not omega-3, like you are constantly told. Parent omega-6 is much more powerful. Arachidonic acid (AA) is a critical omega-6 derivative and major biochemical component which occurs in virtually every cell we have. It is the building block of the most potent anti-aggregatory ("helps blood thinning") agent known, termed prostacyclin. AA also inhibits platelet adhesion, making it a natural "blood thinner". AA even helps solve vascular problems as a response to injury.51


Heart attack victims often have depleted EFA levels, especially the EFA derivatives AA from parent omega-6 and EPA from parent omega-3.56 We need some parent omega-3 because EPA is one of its important derivatives. The problem is that fish oil supplements overdose us with far too much.





What's really clogging the arteries


Contrary to what we have heard for decades, it is not the saturated fat that clogs the arteries and impedes blood flow: it's the adulterated parent omega-6.


A groundbreaking Lancet article (1994; 344:1195-96) reported investigating the components of arterial plaques. Felton et al. measured the individual components, and in an aortic artery clog they found over 10 different compounds but no saturated fat.57 There was some cholesterol in the clog. This is explained by the fact that cholesterol acts as a protective healer for arterial cuts and bruises, just like a scab forms over external cuts.


What is the predominant component of a clog? You probably guessed it: the adulterated omega-6 polyunsaturated oils-those that start out containing properly functioning EFAs but get ruined during commercial food processing. Many similar analyses of arterial clogs showing the same result have been carried out and published in the medical journals, but it would seem that few physicians have seen them.58 The average person has little, if any, chance of ever discovering the truth.


So, it is not cholesterol itself that clogs the arteries. If you have a deficiency of EFAs, cholesterol acts as a "poison delivery system". EFAs are cholesterol's major component. As the medical textbook Molecular Biology of the Cell makes clear (p. 481), cholesterol is necessary for the structural integrity of the lipid bi-layer, the matrix in each of our 100 trillion cell membranes. JAMA (1994; 272:1335-40) published an article stating that cholesterol-lowering drugs do not work significantly to prevent heart disease. The reason? They can't lower the amount of defective parent omega-6 enough.


As stated in Current Atherosclerosis Reports (2004; 6:477-84), this is why cholesterol drugs can't do the job:59 "LDL contains up to 80% lipids [fats and oils], including polyunsaturated fatty acids and cholesterol, mainly esters. Linoleic acid (LA), one of the most abundant fatty acids in LDLÉ"


With this information, we see that it is what the cholesterol is transporting-the adulterated EFAs-that is the problem. An article in Human Nutrition: Clinical Nutrition (1984; 38C:245-260) further verifies that it is parent omega-6 that makes up most of the fatty acids in LDL and HDL cholesterol.60


Don't let anyone ever tell you that natural fats are "bad". One hundred trillion cells need lots of EFA-containing natural fats; in particular, lots of parent omega-6.


If just a little of this parent omega-6 is defective, reducing its ability to absorb oxygen and perform other cellular functions, it acts as a direct cause of cancer as well as heart disease. °

A 90% Cancer Cure Diet using Flaxseed Oil %26amp; Cottage Cheese?
This is unfounded and the use of oils in prostate cancer may worsen the condition. For other cancers and conditions, the diet is sound from a nutritional standpoint although unsupported by peer review as a cure for cancer. However, it should do no harm. But there is no miracle cure.
