A strange growth under my armpit...?

Hi, I've had this growth under my arm for many years now, and I always shrugged it off as being a harmless skin tag (it was always skin colored) but just about a week ago, I noticed that it had a black bump emerging out of it. It looks very strange, almost as if it's forcing it's way out of the growth. Another thing that's got me worried about it, is that the growth doesn't look like a skin tag anymore. It looks almost like a large, irregular shaped bug bite, and it has a very firm feel to it when I push on it. If I had to guess, I'd say it almost feels like a tumor or something. It's the black thing that's trying to emerge out from the middle of it that's got me really worried though. I wanted to get it checked out but I don't have any health insurance at the moment, and I'm short on cash. Do any of you know what this might be? It doesn't hurt or anything, and the bump itself has no feeling whatsoever, but I'm still concerned. Thanks in advance for any help.

It would be too hard to determine what it really is based on just a description. My main concern for you would be that it's not some form of skin cancer. You really need to have it checked out immediately to rule out skin cancer. If it's something benign you can have it removed at a later time when you have medical insurance.

Try a clinic, or even an ER if necessary
Reply:I would try to find a low cost clinic or something to have it looked at. If it is a tumor, it's nothing to play with. I know how you feel about not having insurance. I've been told you can't be refused healthcare, but I don't know under what circumstances that applies. Do you know a family member or a friend of the family that is a doctor? or a nurse? have them look at it if nothing else.
Reply:I've had similar lumps under my arm pits that have always turned out to be simply blocked pores or ducts...maybe ingrown hair?. They usually go away within a few days and will be less sensitive as it gets better. If it stay longer than a few days, I'd make an appointment to have it checked. Good Luck and don't worry...just keep an eye on it! D'n'D
Reply:You really need to go get it checked out.
Reply:please see a skin doctor. Could be cancerous, but it can probably be removed with no problem. When a lump or bump etc. changes color or size it is a sign of a possible problem.

I found a page with basic information and some pictures.
Reply:DON'T WAIT, SEE A DOCTOR!!!!
