What's a healthy natural way ie dietary to improve hair growth/health? No commercial responses please.?

I am a woman with fine curly hair that doesn't grow much longer than 6 inches. It gets thin, wispy, and sheds. Barely long enough to put up, and too thin to fit in most clips. It's not oily, not too dry. I brush gently %26amp; wash lightly every 3-4 days. Other family members' hair grows longer. No skin or health problems. I walk 3 miles a day several times a week. Fair amount of stress at times.

Is there a mineral or vitamin especially good for women's hair growth?

Since you are active I would suggest Vitamins A and E, but not every day. They are fat soluable vitamins and it IS possible to overdose on them if taken too much over time. Omega-3 Fish Oil is also good for your hair and skin and it is also good for your heart, so I would suggest everyone take that, especially those with high cholesterol. Also B vitamins help too. A good multi-vitamin and a Fish Oil supplement should do the trick. If you take the multi though, do not take A and E as well, since they are in that. You can take extra B if you want though, since it's water soluable and if you take too much of that, it'll just turn your urine orange...lol. These vitamins are really good for your hair and skin though. Not only will your hair be healthier, but you will look much younger too, even if you are young. It took about 10 years off my mom's skin when she started taking it. Also if you want it to grow faster, I suggest that at least every 3-4 months, get the dead ends trimmed (if you didn't already know that), this stimulates growth since it gets rid of the dead hair and makes it healthier. Also try a deep conditioner since your hair is not oily, it will help some with body, and try to steer clear of blow drying since this damages the hair. Good luck.
Reply:~~eating Jello is good for hair and nails~~
Reply:Everyone should take a vitamin everyday. We take ours at bedtime............Your eating habits may not be good..........Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, yogurt, 1% milk or skim....Walking is great 3 times a week.(don't over do it) It is a strain on the body although walking is best exercise ever.

Try watching your sugar and salt intake........Plus medicines play a role in hair also...Check with your doctor. Good luck
Reply:Prenatal vitamins. They are available over the counter, and are perfectly healthy for women to take whether pregnant or not. They are aimed more at the types of vitamins needed for a growing fetus, and for some reason, also help aid the growth of both hair and nails.
Reply:You can encourage growth, by eating a healthy diet rich in proteins, and massaging your scalp every day. However genetics plays a part too. Some people's hair gets to a genetically programed length and that it is.

Do what you can and if it doesn't work accept what you have. Or try a hair weave, extensions, or even a fall with what you have.
Reply:Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)
