Okay, I'm 5' 7'', and weighed about 135 before I got pregnant. I'm 16 weeks right now. I have a few very small, light stretch mark looking lines on my hips, that the doctor said is from growth spurts when I was young. I'm wondering if this means I'm doomed to stretch marks during pregnancy. But, I also think about the fact that I used to weigh about 160 lbs when I went through a pudgy phase after high school (I'm 24 years old now.) I lost all that weight (rather quickly because of my old smoking habit), and don't have any stretch marks at all. Does that mean maybe I won't get them?? My Mom doesnt have any stretch marks, just a little bit of flabby skin. But she also has had 2 kids, this is my first. HELP!!! LOL.
Am I doomed to stretch marks? I have some on my hips, just from growth spurts. Does this mean I'm doomed??
oh my gosh i was just as freaked as you are hun! i have the same light stretch marks on my hips you are talking about from growth spurts. I am 9 months pregnant and i have NO stretch marks =] my mom didnt get them either. btw dont listen about people telling you to use lotions, i use it because my skins is itchy but its 99% genetics- if you are gonna get them NO lotion will prevent it. good luck honey!
Reply:Stretch marks are very unpredictable. I have them, but since my pregnancy, I haven't gotten any new ones. In fact, I don't have any on my belly and I'm 34 weeks. I'm probably still prone to get them, but I stopped stressing about it. My concern is just for a healthy baby that I can love and hold after I give birth.
Reply:to prevent mine and reduce them i drank lots of water and used any old moisturising cream to keep the skin elasticated and supple
Reply:Stay moisturized and keep your fingers crossed
Reply:Hi,
I'm not pregnant but I started getting stretch marks on the upper part of my thighs, bum %26amp; hips after I started working out at the gym. They were only very feint white marks but they bothered me so I bought Bio Oil at the chemist which got rid of them BUT my friend used it %26amp; it didn't work for her. (my strech marks were new %26amp; here were old)
I think it only really helps to prevent them %26amp; minimise new ones. Hope this helps.
