I have a 2 year old, male boxer dog who has recently ...?

started getting alot of abnormal growths all over his body. they look like the seed of an orange, grow very fast to be about 1cm long, light in colour, feels like hardened skin, disappears when it gets large, lasts about 4-5 days and once it goes away the area where it grows bleeds (slightly).

I will be taking him to the vet, so apart from that does anyone have any ideas on what this could be and of how serious it is?

Yeah. The vet is your best option.

When you find out, post pix and diagnosis.
Reply:Boxers are a breed that are riddled by cancer, so honestly its my first thought. My boxer mix also has a few abnormal growths, but the vet has said they were benign tumors. Good luck with the vet, I hope your dog is OK!
Reply:It sounds like they may be woodticks. Do you use any flea tick and mosquito preventatives like Frontline? I really don't know what else it could be. Sorry. The vet will hopefully be able to tell you what it is and what the proper treatment for it is. Good luck

Note: No I mean the spot on treatments that you place on the neck and spine of the dog. You place it on once a month to help prevent fleas, ticks and mosquitos. Products like Frontline Plus, Advantage, K9 Advantix. Have you ever heard of these?? They are really the best way to prevent these nasty parasites.
Reply:Definitely take him to the vet...they could be parasites...although i could find any thing that matches the time frame
Reply:Honestly..this does sound like cancer (tumors) growing all over his body. We had a cat once that had those growths %26amp; thats what it was...she died from it b/c I think we waited too long to take her to the vet. PLEASE take your dog ASAP! If its not cancer at least you will ahve peace of mind :o)
Reply:If it was cancer I wouldn't think that they would go away after a few days. cancer growths are usually there to stay unless you have them removed by a vet. I would examine them more closely and see if you can see any type of tick or other pest. Also if your dog doesn't have these all the time take some pics if you aren't going to the vet in the next couple days so that the vet can see all stages of the bumps. Good Luck!
Reply:I would think that your dog has a 'tick' infestation!
