Hi. I'm not sure if this is the place for this, but I'm hoping folks here can help me out. Does this sound like a tumor to you?
I am an asian american male, 25, slightly overweight, and relatively healthy (no smoking, very little drinking, exercise 1-2 times a week etc.) I have a bunch of minor allergies and I have eczema.
Recently, I've discovered a strange growth on my armpit. Currently, it is about 1 inch spherical shape. 1 inch in length, and maybe 1/2 inch in depth. It is very hard and it hurts when pressure is applied (maybe just tender, definitely does not hurt enough to stop me from poking it). Two weeks ago, it was just a slight bump, maybe 1 cm or less, and now it has ballooned to a visible, and definitely noticeable shape. If i squeeze deep into my armpit, i can feel the entire growth. I am very worried since it has grown so large so fast, but I am only 25 with no significant family illnesses.
I have always had eczema on my armpits, and I try to avoid using any harsh products etc, but sometimes when going out I need to apply deodorant. This often makes me very itchy and while sleeping I sometimes will break the skin. So I'm worried that this irritation grew to something much more dangerous.
Is it possible for constant PHYSICAL irritation to create the growth I have described? I generally wash all substances off when the itching occurs.
Please let me know what else I need to provide. I'm very worried and I'm going to see a doctor ASAP (in a week).
Thanks
What kind of disease do i have? Abnormal growth on the armpit, hard, painful, hot, explosive growth.?
have you been to Iraq? because i started getting those when i was there. you need to see your doctor and get antibiotics before it gets worse (it will just get bigger until it burts and it will leak infection and blood and its really gross)... and if it bursts it will leave a scar. you will end up having to take almost constant antibiotics because youll end up getting more.... they are contagious and if someone touches it they can get it too.
Reply:I would recommend you ask for a faster appointment if it has grown that much in such a short period of time. It could be an infection of some sort, or perhaps something more serious or not. I'm not a medical professional, but I would HIGHLY recommend you go see one sooner.
Reply:Hello,
More than likely it is a sebasceous cyst. A sebaceous cyst is a swollen sweat gland, that, if not treated, will get bigger rather than go away. You probably have eczema for the same reason. I'm not sure what it could be other than a sebaceous cyst, however I wouldn't panic about it until the doctor lets you know - the best thing to do is of course, stay calm. Just to let you know, if it's a sebaceous cyst, the doctor will have to go in and operate to remove it, it's a very simple procedure that probably takes 5-15 minutes - simply intubating it and draining it. If it is something else however, I wish you the best of luck.
Reply:there are lymph nodes located through out your body. one place is your arm pits. They filter out any impurities in your blood. If you cam in contact with something that inflamed them then they will swell and become a discomfort. But usually it should only last for two to four days. Anything longer than that should be referred to a Doc. Mainly because if it becomes an infection it could spred though the body leading to sepsis and eventually death. So if it has been there long enough for you to worry i would definatly have it looked at in a timely manner
Reply:If an appointment with a specialist of your choice is not possible right now you can call on any 24 hr open clinic. Since you do not report temperature and the pain is tolerable it could be some ordinary infection, the source of which is else where. May be the gland has swollen. You may go in for FNA test which helps to determine the nature of the substance collecting there. Better not delay.
Reply:Perhaps it's a boil or a cyst
Reply:It can be a gland that is swollen due to the deoderant or an irritation. Definitely go to the Dr. They should be able to prescribe meds or drain it for you. Also, ask your Dr. if there is any "all natural" deoderant you can use instead.
