i have 4 "growths" on my shaft/scrotom and have had them for about 5 years now, they dont get worse or better or go away, they dont look like any of the pics you see online of genital warts. I have small skin tags 1 in each underarm and what is on my genitals looks more like those then any pic i have seen this far of genital warts....how long does it take for warts to "get out of hand"?
I keep reading about how if untreated genital warts will get rather scary looking?
Yes, that is genital warts. They can vary in size, shape and appearance. Some appear as bumps and others like you have described are skin tag like. They can get out of hand quickly.
Scary is not the word for what they can look like. I am a nurse and my first experience with genital warts was horrifying to say the least. He was an old man in a nursing home, I was doing treatments that day and the order read to apply cream to warts. I asked another nurse where his warts were and she said "pull back the sheets, you cant miss them". I pulled the sheets back and was in shock. He had warts (mounds of them) from about 3 inches below his belly button all the way down into his inner thighs. There was green and yellow drainage from them and the odor was hidious. I honestly (with NO exaggeration) could not see his penis. I have never seen anything like it in a text book!
You should go to your local health department and seek treatment. Some clinics can "burn" them off as they grow. They also make creams that can be applied at home by you, this is a much slower way to get rid of them. Sometimes they grow back, and likely they will. I have heard of people having them taken off in cases that they have not grown back.
Regardless, keep in mind that doctors see this type of thing all of the time, many of them even have it!! As embarressing as it may seem to you at the time, it is all in a days work for the people at the health department, this is what they deal with the majority of the time. Get yourself taken care of. =0)
Reply:Have you had them checked out by a doctor? If not you need to. They are very contagious and you don't want to pass them to your partner. You do not want to wait until they "get out of hand".
Reply:Warning, when they burn the warts off, it hurts like a mother!
Also, I hope you get more professional doctors then I had. The doctor implied that I was a **** when I had them, which was just wrong. Like I felt bad enought in the first place.
I do think you should do more research and see a doctor regarding them though.
