About 2months ago i was on a folding creeper when it collapsed.2of my fingers were stuck. But at the time i only knew of 1. so i jerked my other finger out, pulled up the creeper and released my other finger. At that time i saw the blood. I had torn the entire finger pad off of the tip of my finger. Worst pain i had ever been in. I was rushed to the E.R. where i was treated. Unfortunately they were unable to attach the skin. I now have to wait until it completely grows back.
It has been 2months and still the skin has not grown back. The nail is there along with some edges of skin. There is no scab left. The only thing there is a large blister type growth. What i would like to know is this: What is it? Also, the dr sed 6-8 wks for the entire skin pad to grow back...its been 2months...Will it ever grow back?im very scared being that im a 13 yr old girl...any suggestions or words of encouragement?
Please, Doctors and Nurses ONLY!!?
Hmmm. Well, a large blister like type growth almost sounds like an abscess to me. Without seeing your finger I cant tell you exactly whats going on, but I would urge you to go back to a doctor. If your skin isnt growing back on its own they can use skin grafts to close the wound, but I would definetly go back to the doctor. Just watch and wait, everyones body is different. Trust you doctors, they know what they are doing. Try to relax.
Reply:I am not a doctor or nurse but a mother of a teenager. 6-8 wks is 2 months. The blister type skin you describe sounds like the skin has been bandaged and the moisture from the bandage has made the skin look this way. It will be fine. Trust the ER Dr.
Reply:w/o seeing it, it's hard to say...I was in highschool yrs ago and worked at a meat market and sliced off the tip of my finger pad and nail(about the size of 2 pencil erasers side by side) and about 1/8 inch deep..it took several months, almost a yr before it was back to "normal".You may have decreased sensation in that tip as well..just make sure it doesnt get infected.
